Sans l' eau

It's going on six days now. The time is longer than usual, but my host mom just shakes her head and laughs. Everyday has brought something different. For the first day I went showerless using bottled water for everything else. Days two, three, and four consisted of bucket baths using the tap water that sits in buckets in the yard. Day five I collected rain water (I kid you not), and today I hit a milestone when I pulled water from a nearby well and carried it a 1/4 mile African style (aka on my head). Picture the two nephews, my host mother, and I walking single file in a line back to the house all carrying buckets on our head. A fabulous lost photo opportunity! While I felt very accomplished taking this bucket bath, I'm crossing my fingers for water soon. Happy 4th of July To All!!!!!

MINI!!!

So I just typed you a ridiculously long post and it deleted it and I got really mad and almost threw the damn computer so I'm boycotting and not retyping this one...
BUT..I miss you and have enjoying traveling through your adventures. Congrats on getting so strong in French, mastering a language is hard to do and it takes FOREVER, that is so cool you get the time to practice! My new job leaves me with Spanish phrases constantly on my mind, 95% of my clients are Spanish only speaking...imagine that in California..haha. The cockroaches comment...ick, that is all I have to say about that, and as far as the bucket on your head deal goes...WHAT??? It reminds me of the jungle book or something (jk) that is SO cool you get to experience these things....Okay my boycotting email is now longer than the first one...oops. Love you Min...cant wait to read more!

Kate, I will now appreciate my Dove and warm shower tomorrow more than I did today! BO is a good thing Kate! You sound great! We have been busy this summer but miss you being around. How is the French going? Are you all French now? We have a new band director, Mr. Watt (Young, new college grad, short hair, tall, conservative, right up Wencel's alley.) GGGRRRR!
Love and keep in touch!
Lisa M. I have a letter for you from Tess, I will mail it soon.

Hi Kate, Have submitted the PhD so finally have time for other things. Just spent the last hour reading all your posts. What a fabulous experience you are having though I'm disappointed that the carrying water from the well was a MISSED photo opportunity - what a sight! Take care and stay safe and happy. Annemieke
